Know Before the Bell: Car Hackers and Frito-Lay's Flavor Contest

Hackers may begin targeting your car, and PepsiCo’s (NYSE:PEP) Frito-Lay will have you biting into a cappuccino.

The auto industry says vehicles are full of computer chips and by 2017, it’s predicted that 60% of cars and trucks will be connected to the Internet. Automakers and tech suppliers are now working on a coalition to share information about cyber-security issues.

That said, General Motors (NYSE:GM) is trying to make sure you’re always connected when you’re behind the steering wheel. The automaker is offering non-stop WiFi thanks to a new 4G LTE hotspot. It will be a standard feature on most 2015 Buicks and two dozen other GM models.

What’s your favorite flavor of potato chips? How about cappuccino? Maybe mango salsa, wasabi ginger or cheddar bacon macaroni and cheese? Those four flavors will hit the shelves across the country, and the most popular will score the inventor a cool $1 million. It’s all part of a Frito-Lay contest that allows customers to vote for their favorite flavor.
