Do you drive one of the best American-made vehicles?  And stocks open the week in negative territory. This is the mid-day market report.

A professor from American University in Washington, D.C., has devised a new index for the best vehicles actually made in America. Among small cars, the Chevrolet Sonic takes the top spot. For midsize sedans, the Toyota Camry is No. 1. The Chevrolet Equinox, Cadillac ATS and Ford F-150 are ranked as the most American-made compact SUVs, luxury cars and pickup trucks, respectively.

Was it bad weather, or did Hollywood just release a batch of bad movies? The Fourth of July weekend box office fell well short of blockbuster for what is traditionally a big money-making holiday.

Transformers: Age of Extinction earned $36 million. The Melissa McCarthy comedy, Tammy, earned $21 million, and horror flick Deliver Us From Evil earned $9.5 million.

Forget the all-you-can-eat buffet, TGI Fridays is launching the first-ever endless appetizers program. Guests pay $10 for one appetizer, and they can order as much as they like of that one item.

While sharing is discouraged, TGI Fridays said they won’t police tables should someone lean over and grab one of your mozzarella sticks.
