Lenovo Group Ltd.'s [s:lnvgy] proposed purchase of IBM Corp.'s low-end server business has been cleared by Chinese officials, according to news reports Friday. The proposed $2.3 billion deal will still need approval from the U.S. People familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal in June that the U.S. is investigating possible national-security risks related to the deal. Lenovo's Chief Executive Yang Yuanqing has said he expects Lenovo to complete the acquisition by the end of the year.
