NEW YORK – H&R Block Inc. shares climbed 4% in premarket trade Wednesday after the tax services provider reported stronger-than-expected profit and revenue for its fiscal fourth quarter. H&R Block said it earned $909.9 million, or $3.29 a share, in the quarter, up from $644.3 million, or $2.42 a share, in the same period a year ago. The company said earnings from continuing operations came to $3.36 a share. Revenue totaled $2.56 billion, up from $2.20 billion a year ago. the FactSet consensus was for earnings of $3.23 a share on revenue of $2.491 billion.
