NEW YORK – Barnes & Noble Inc. said Thursday that its retail sales, including its namesake bookstores and BN.com, fell 6.6% to $1.1 billion. Results included a 5.5% drop in comparable sales and store closures. Excluding Nook, comparable sales dipped 0.2%. Nook segment sales in the nine weeks ended Dec. 28 fell 61%, including a 67% slump in device and accessories sales. Digital content sales were down 27%. The company said holiday sales suffered because it didn't introduce new tablets, unlike in 2012.
