SAN FRANCISCO – Facebook Inc. on Wednesday reported a third-quarter profit of $425 million, or 17 cents a share, compared with a loss of $59 million, or 2 cents a share, for the year-earlier period. Revenue rose to $2.02 billion from $1.26 billion. Adjusted profit was 25 cents a share. Analysts polled by FactSet on average were expecting the Menlo Park, Calif.-based social network to post an adjusted profit of 19 cents a share, on revenue of $1.91 billion. The company said it now has 1.19 billion monthly active users, up 18% year-over-year. Mobile ad revenue now makes up 49% of total advertising sales. Facebook shares were up 16% after hours.
