SAN FRANCISCO – Tech stocks were mostly higher Friday morning, propelled by gains in the chip sector as Micron Technology jumped nearly 10% after posting better-than-expected results. Other chip stocks posted solid gains, giving the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index a lift by more than 1%. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 14 points, or 0.4%, to stand at 3,327. Shares of Cisco Systems recovered some ground lost in Thursday's trades, gaining nearly 1% to stand at $21, the best performer on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Dow was ahead 59 points. Social media stocks were in the green, with Facebook Inc. up nearly 1% at $25.94. LinkedIn Corp. also was up about 1% at $176.47.
