Kellogg Recalls 36,000 Special K Boxes for Glass Fragments

Cereal maker Kellogg (NYSE:K) announced on Thursday a recall of three sizes of its Special K Red Berries cereal packages, citing possible glass fragments.

On the company’s website, Kellogg said there have been no reports of injuries associated with the potential problem cited in the recall that totals 36,000 packages.

The recall includes 11.2-ounce packages with UPC code 3800059923 and a better-if-used-before date of Dec. 2, 2013, followed by KNC 105 and a time stamp of 00:13-2:30; 22.4-ounce twin packs with UPC code 3800078356 and better-if-used-before date of Nov. 30, 2013, followed by KNA 105 and a time stamp of 07:00-08:51 or 15:00-17:05; and 37-ounce packages with UPC code 3800020940 and a better-if-used-before date of Nov. 30, followed by KNB 107 and a time stamp of 17:31-20:05.

The packages included in the recall were sold at various U.S. retailers.

The company said consumers affected by the recall should contact Kellogg for a replacement coupon.

Kellogg is still recovering from major recalls that spurred the company to put money into supply-chain improvements. Late last year, Kellogg put out a recall on 2.8 million boxes of its Mini-Wheats cereal due to the possible presence of metal mesh fragments.

Shares of Kellogg were down 13 cents to $59.64 early Thursday.
