The S&P 500 lost 0.7% while the Services sector (IYC) showed little movement during trading today.
The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. As trading began today, IYC was up 3.6% over the last thirty trading days, and the S&P 500 climbed 2.1%.
Accretive Health (AH) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 10.4% (+$1.12) to close at $11.92 with 2.2 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $10.81 to $11.93. Shares are up, having risen $1.55 (14.9%) from a price of $10.37 on August 23, 2012. The Buckle (BKE) also gained today, climbing $3.08 (+7.1%) to close at $46.28.
Sears Holdings (SHLD) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 7.9% (-$4.55) to close at $52.90, as three million shares moved. The stock traded in a range of $52.57 to $55.15. The stock has been on a downward trajectory over the last two months, dipping $7.33 (-12.2%) from a price of $60.23 on July 3, 2012.
The Washington Post Company (WPO) rose 1.4% to close at $355, cross its 50-day moving average of $350.61 and 200-day moving average of $363.49. Wynn Resorts (WYNN) declined 2% to close at $102.85, moving below its 50-day moving average of $100.62 and 200-day moving average of $108.87.
MakeMyTrip (MMYT) rose 3.1% to close at $14.43, approaching its 50-day moving average of $15.73. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $17.94. Standard Parking Corporation (NTGR) fell 4.9% to close at $22.32, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $22.03. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $35.41.
Gap (GPS) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $36.60 to top the previous high of $36.23.
