While the S&P 500 grew 0.6%, the Utilities sector (XLU) showed little movement during trading today.
As a proxy for the sector, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLU was down 2.7% over the last thirty trading days. The S&P 500, in comparison, went up 3.9%.
EDENOR (EDN) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 13%. The stock closed at $2.35 with 11,200 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $2.09 to $2.50. Black Hills (BKH) also gained today, climbing $2.41 (+7.8%) to close at $33.42.
Copano Energy L.L.C (CPNO) fell 1.1% to close at $30.18, crossing its 50-day moving average of $29.04.
Crestwood Midstream Partners (CMLP) rose 2.1% to close at $23.65, approaching its 50-day moving average of $25.23. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $26.71.
EnerNOC (ENOC) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 2.1% (-22 cents) to close at $10.13, as 295,172 shares moved. The stock traded in a range of $10.01 to $10.34.
