The Services sector (IYC) held steady during a trading day that saw the S&P 500 grow 0.6%.
Aruba Networks (ARUN) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 14.4% (+$2.44) to close at $19.36 with 12.7 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $19 to $20.20.
Shoe Carnival (SCVL) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 7.4% (-$1.81) to close at $22.57. 721,327 shares of the stock moved. The stock traded between $21.79 and $23.92. Shares have shown some positive movement over the last two months as the price has climbed $1.45 (6.9%) from a price of $21.12 on June 27, 2012.
