Republic Airways Holdings (RJET) was a major loser in the sector, falling 6.7% (-34 cents) to close at $4.74 with 332,919 shares moving. The stock traded between $4.67 and $4.97. The stock has been on a downward trajectory over the last two months, slipping 86 cents (-15.4%) from a price of $5.60 on June 25, 2012.
Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes (GOL) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 5.2%. The stock closed at $5.26 with 1.6 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $5.02 to $5.37. Shares have been on on the rise over the past month, climbing $1.25 (31.2%) from a price of $4.01 on July 24, 2012.
Safe Bulkers (SB) declined 4.2% to close at $6.23, moving below its 50-day moving average of $6.18 and 200-day moving average of $6.44. Swift Transportation Company (SWFT) rose 2.3% to close at $8.55, crossing its 50-day moving average of $8.44.
Pacer International (PACR) rose 2.1% to close at $4.30, approaching its 50-day moving average of $4.66. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $5.47. AMERCO (UHAL) fell 2.2% to close at $95.83, moving down to 1% above its 200-day moving average of $94.86.
