During trading today, both the Health Care sector (XLV) and the S&P500 showed little movement.
Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLV was up 0.8% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 was up 4.2%.
Repros Therapeutics (RPRX) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 15.2%. The stock closed at $10.98 with 952,038 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $9.53 to $11.40. Similarly, ChemoCentryx (CCXI) gained today, increasing 64 cents (+6.2%) to close at $10.92.
BG Medicine (BGMD) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 10% (-55 cents) to close at $4.96, as 13,085 shares moved. The stock traded in a range of $4.87 to $5.47. Shares are down over the last two months as the price has dropped $1.94 (-28.1%) from a price of $6.90 on June 21, 2012.
Alkermes (ALKS) rose 2.7% to close at $18.34, cross its 50-day moving average of $17.87 and 200-day moving average of $17.38.
ABIOMED (ABMD) rose 4.4% to close at $21.71, approaching its 50-day moving average of $22.22. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $21.85. Align Technology (CNC) fell 2% to close at $33.97, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $33.76. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $38.88.
