Services Sector Wrap

The Services sector (IYC) showed little change during trading today while the S&P 500 rose 0.1%.

The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, IYC was up 2% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 climbed 3.2%.

Aeropostale (ARO) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 11.1% (-$1.52) to close at $12.14. 10.3 million shares of the stock moved. The stock traded between $12.12 and $13.10.

Francesca's Holdings (FRAN) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 10.7% (+$3.31) to close at $34.32 with 2.2 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $30.92 to $34.94.

BJ's Restaurants (BJRI) fell 1.8% to close at $39.30, crossing its 50-day moving average of $39.64. Meanwhile, Liquidity Services (LQDT) climbed 5.9% to close at $48.45, moving past its 200-day moving average of $48.08.

AutoZone (AZO) rose 1.4% to close at $363.65, approaching its 50-day moving average of $369.46. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $371.23. Alexandria Real Estate Equities (CHA) fell 1.1% to close at $73.39, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $72.77. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $51.00.
