While the S&P 500 grew 0.1%, the Capital Goods sector (XLI) showed little movement during trading today.

Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLI was up 4.5% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 was up 3.2%.

Ocean Power Technologies (OPTT) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 7.1% (-18 cents) to close at $2.36. 54,197 shares of the stock moved. The stock traded between $2.31 and $2.64. The stock has been on an upward trajectory over the last two months, climbing 26 cents (12.4%) from a price of $2.10 on June 20, 2012.

Michael Baker Corporation (BKR) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 4.5%. The stock closed at $24.35 with 18,751 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $23.20 to $24.49. Over the last three months, the stock has gained $1.58 (6.9%) from a price of $22.77 on May 22, 2012.

Titan Machinery (TITN) declined 4.7% to close at $27.55, moving below its 50-day moving average of $28.91 and 200-day moving average of $28.83.

The Gorman-Rupp Company (GRC) rose 2.5% to close at $28.65, approaching its 50-day moving average of $28.75. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $29.03. Flow International Corporation (ALG) fell 4% to close at $3.33, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $3.25. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $30.00.
