Mexco Energy Corporation (MXC) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 6.7% (-45 cents) to close at $6.30. 2,213 shares of the stock moved. The stock traded in a range of $6.30 to $6.72.

Western Refining (WNR) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $27.29 to top the previous high of $26.91.
