Basic Materials Sector Wrap

While the S&P 500 grew 0.2%, the Basic Materials sector (XLB) showed little movement during trading today.

American Pacific Corporation (APFC) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 8.9%. The stock closed at $11.16 with 7,203 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $10.20 to $11.49.

Northern Technologies International (NTIC) was a major loser in the sector, falling 3.8% (-39 cents) to close at $9.83 with 3,843 shares moving. The stock traded between $9.81 and $10.05.

ADA-ES (ADES) declined 3.5% to close at $23.49, moving below its 50-day moving average of $23.46 and 200-day moving average of $23.97. Braskem (BAK) climbed 3.6% to close at $14.18, moving past its 200-day moving average of $13.96.

Dynamic Materials Corporation (BOOM) rose 3.6% to close at $16.34, approaching its 50-day moving average of $16.69. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $18.82.

Ashland (ASH) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $72.95 to top the previous high of $72.34.
