ResMed (RMD) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 12% (+$3.82) to close at $35.65 with 2.9 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $34.50 to $36. Shares have been on on the rise over the past month, climbing $4.72 (15.3%) from a price of $30.93 on July 5, 2012. Bio-Reference Laboratories (BRLI) and CorVel Corporation (CRVL), in the same sector, also saw major gains today.

WellCare Health Plans (WCG) was a major loser in the sector, falling 11.6% (-$7.26) to close at $55.12 with 4.2 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $54.57 to $61.94. The stock has been dropping recently, and shares are down $10.84 (-16.4%) from a price of $65.96 on July 27, 2012.

Sirona Dental Systems (SIRO) rose 11.5% to close at $48.36, crossing its 50-day moving average of $43.76. Meanwhile, Assisted Living Concepts (ALC) dropped 8.5% to close at $12.86, moving below its 200-day moving average or $15.25.

Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) rose 4.4% to close at $34.95, approaching its 50-day moving average of $37.82. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $38.64. China Biologic Products (ZIOP) fell 3.1% to close at $10.26, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $9.97. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $5.25.

AtriCure (ATRC) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $6.34 to fall below the previous low of $7.87.
