The Health Care sector (XLV) held steady during a trading day that saw the S&P 500 grow 1.8%.
The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked farther from the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLV was up 3.6% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 climbed 4.1%.
Dehaier Medical Systems (DHRM) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 12.8% (-23 cents) to close at $1.56, as 3,200 shares moved. The stock traded between $1.56 and $1.67.
Infinity Pharmaceuticals (INFI) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 10%. The stock closed at $18.22 with 417,112 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $16.54 to $18.37. Similarly, Amgen (AMGN) gained today, increasing $4.62 (+5.8%) to close at $83.92.
CorVel Corporation (CRVL) rose 6% to close at $47.64, cross its 50-day moving average of $46.60 and 200-day moving average of $45.16.
Universal Health Services (UHS) rose 4.7% to close at $40.11, approaching its 50-day moving average of $40.32. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $40.80.
Sequenom (SQNM) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $3.18 to fall below the previous low of $3.37.
