Coventry Health Care (CVH) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 10.9%. The stock closed at $34.07 with 2.9 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $32.33 to $34.24. Over the last three months, the stock has gained $3.59 (11.8%) from a price of $30.48 on May 1, 2012. Aon (AON) also gained today, climbing $2.84 (+6.1%) to close at $49.32.

Carver Bancorp (CARV) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 10.4% (-59 cents) to close at $5.14, as 2,597 shares moved. The stock traded between $5 and $5.73.

Principal Financial (PFG) fell 2.5% to close at $24.98, crossing its 50-day moving average of $25.40.

Shinhan Financial Group (SHG) rose 5.9% to close at $63.46, approaching its 50-day moving average of $65.72. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $70.90. World Acceptance (UNL) fell 1.8% to close at $69.68, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $67.94. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $17.84.

Texas Capital (TCBI) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $43.96 to top the previous high of $43.79.
