The Health Care sector (XLV) showed little movement on a trading day that saw S&P 500 fall 1%.
Savient Pharmaceuticals (SVNT) rose 35.3% to close at 69 cents, cross its 50-day moving average of 64 cents and 200-day moving average of $1.55.
Repligen Corporation (RGEN) rose 2.8% to close at $4, approaching its 50-day moving average of $4.22. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $4.48. HEALTHSOUTH (NHC) fell 6.3% to close at $22.64, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $22.31. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $44.46.
InterMune (ITMN) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 15.4% (-$1.81) to close at $9.90. 4.6 million shares of the stock moved. The stock traded in a range of $9.85 to $11.20. The stock is down over the last three months, having fallen $2.38 (-19.4%) from $12.29 on April 25, 2012.
