The Transportation sector (IYT) showed little movement on a trading day that saw S&P 500 fall 0.9%.
As a proxy for the sector, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, IYT was down 3.2% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 climbed 0.7%.
Torm A\x2FS (TRMD) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 12%. The stock closed at 56 cents with 16,585 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of 50 cents to 60 cents. Forward Air Corporation (FWRD) also gained today, climbing $1.95 (+6.1%) to close at $33.89.
Hub Group (HUBG) was a major loser in the sector, falling 10.3% (-$3.27) to close at $28.60 with 1.2 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $27.86 to $29.97. The stock has been losing steam over the last month, slipping $7.55 (-20.9%) from a price of $36.15 on June 20, 2012.
Echo Global Logistics (ECHO) fell 8.4% to close at $17.29, crossing its 50-day moving average of $18.44.
Teekay Tankers (TNK) rose 1.7% to close at $4.14, approaching its 50-day moving average of $4.21. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $4.54. Golar LNG Partners (GMLP) rose 1.8% to close at $32.49, getting closer to its 200-day moving average or $33.10.
