Rovi Corporation (ROVI) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 15.9% (+$1.59) to close at $11.60 with nine million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $10.03 to $11.61. Similarly, China Telecom Corporation (CHA) gained today, increasing $2.31 (+5.2%) to close at $46.49.
TAL Education Group (XRS) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 14.2% (-$1.25) to close at $7.56, as 813,995 shares moved. The stock traded between $7.15 and $8.74. The stock is down over the last three months, having fallen $4 (-34.6%) from $11.56 on April 23, 2012.
Ebay (EBAY) rose 8.6% to close at $43.95, cross its 50-day moving average of $40.65 and 200-day moving average of $37.46. Nash-Finch Company (NAFC) declined 7.8% to close at $19.49, moving below its 50-day moving average of $21.07 and 200-day moving average of $24.83.
Las Vegas Sands (LVS) rose 5.5% to close at $42.02, approaching its 50-day moving average of $43.48. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $49.33. Life Time Fitness (CVS) fell 4% to close at $44.64, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $44.55. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $44.30.
