AuRico Gold (AUQ) was a major loser in the sector, falling 12.2% (-92 cents) to close at $6.62 with 14.2 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $6.23 to $6.80.

Mosaic (MOS) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 5.1%. The stock closed at $58.21 with 10.3 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $56.69 to $59.

Packaging Corp Of America (PKG) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $30.91 to top the previous high of $30.61.
