The Health Care sector (XLV) showed little change during trading today while the S&P 500 rose 1.7%.
Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLV was up 4.3% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 was up 2.8%.
Affymax (AFFY) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 15.8% (+$2.25) to close at $16.49 with 6.1 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $14.28 to $16.95.
Reliv International (RELV) was a major loser in the sector, falling 13.6% (-22 cents) to close at $1.40 with 22,586 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $1.35 to $1.50.
Celgene (CELG) rose 3.7% to close at $65.27, cross its 50-day moving average of $65.17 and 200-day moving average of $70.15. Halozyme Therapeutics (HALO) declined 5.2% to close at $8.68, moving below its 50-day moving average of $8.65 and 200-day moving average of $9.52.
Questcor Pharmaceuticals (QCOR) fell 5.2% to close at $43.13, moving down to 2.5% above its 200-day moving average of $42.04.
