Although it moved in the opposite direction of the market, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than it has over the past week. Going into trading today, XLB was down 1.2% over the last seven trading days. The S&P 500, in comparison, was up 0.2%.

ADA-ES (ADES) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 11.9%. The stock closed at $23.67 with 194,491 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $21.04 to $24.10. Shares are down over the last two months as the price has dropped $3.26 (-12.1%) from a price of $26.93 on May 15, 2012.

BioFuel Energy (BIOF) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 11.4% (-32 cents) to close at $2.49, as 51,208 shares moved. The stock traded in a range of $2.49 to $2.82.

Haynes International (HAYN) rose 4.3% to close at $53.02, cross its 50-day moving average of $51.10 and 200-day moving average of $57.19. China Shengda Packaging Group (CPGI) declined 10.6% to close at 84 cents, moving below its 50-day moving average of 76 cents and 200-day moving average of 87 cents.

FMC Corporation (FMC) rose 3.8% to close at $53.66, approaching its 50-day moving average of $57.63. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $83.68. Coleman Cable (HNH) fell 1.9% to close at $8.90, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $8.66. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $12.84.

Cytec Industries (CYT) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $65.40 to top the previous high of $65.
