The Health Care sector (XLV) showed little movement on a trading day that saw S&P 500 fall 0.1%.
Centene (CNC) rose 20.2% to close at $34.76, cross its 50-day moving average of $31.95 and 200-day moving average of $39.31.
MAKO Surgical (MAKO) rose 3% to close at $24.61, approaching its 50-day moving average of $25.01. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $32.23. Optimer Pharmaceuticals (AGN) fell 4.5% to close at $15.49, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $15.34. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $90.57.
Questcor Pharmaceuticals (QCOR) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 14.8%. The stock closed at $57.64 with 6.6 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $52.01 to $58.91. Akorn (AKRX) was another big mover, climbing 81 cents (+5.1%) to a closing price of $16.55.
