The S&P 500 lost 1% while the Technology sector (XLK) showed little movement during trading today.
As a proxy for the sector, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLK was up 1.9% over the last thirty trading days. The S&P 500, in comparison, went up 2.7%.
Informatica Corporation (INFA) fell 27.6% to close at $31.39, crossing its 50-day moving average of $42.61. Meanwhile, Clearfield (CLFD) climbed 6.7% to close at $5.28, moving past its 200-day moving average of $5.18.
Western Digital (WDC) rose 1.1% to close at $31.02, approaching its 50-day moving average of $31.84. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $35.37. Open Text Corporation (TDC) fell 6.3% to close at $48.79, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $48.76. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $64.78.
Acme Packet (APKT) was a major loser in the sector, falling 14.5% (-$2.66) to close at $15.74 with 9.6 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $15.44 to $16.95.
Increasing 12.7% (+$1.74) to close at $15.45, Synacor (SYNC) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, two million shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $14.05 to $15.75.
