Capital Goods Sector Wrap

The S&P 500 lost 0.5% while the Capital Goods sector (XLI) showed little movement during trading today.

The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past week. Entering today's trading, XLI was up 3.4% over the last seven trading days while the S&P 500 climbed 2.7%.

Tecumseh Products Company (TECUB) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 11.1%. The stock closed at $5.70 with 17,700 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $5.70 to $6.18. Arts-Way Manufacturing (ARTW) was another big mover, climbing 49 cents (+6.7%) to a closing price of $7.77.

Nobility Homes (NOBH) was a major loser in the sector, falling 7.3% (-41 cents) to close at $5.20 with 1,300 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $4.89 to $5.88.

Astronics Corporation (ATRO) fell 4.4% to close at $27.53, crossing its 50-day moving average of $27.02. Meanwhile, AAON (AAON) climbed 2.6% to close at $19.72, moving past its 200-day moving average of $19.65.

Kennametal (KMT) rose 1.6% to close at $33.91, approaching its 50-day moving average of $34.04. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $39.58. Moog (NYSE:MOG.A) fell 1.8% to close at $41.02, moving down to 0.5% above its 200-day moving average of $40.83.

Valmont Industries (VMI) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $130.78 to top the previous high of $128.40.
