Urologix (ULGX) was a major loser in the sector, falling 15.4% (-14 cents) to close at 77 cents with 159,040 shares moving. The stock traded between 75 cents and 90 cents.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (VRTX) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 9.3%. The stock closed at $55.92 with 6.1 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $52.29 to $56.50.
Synergetics USA (SURG) declined 6.1% to close at $4.46, moving below its 50-day moving average of $4.53 and 200-day moving average of $5.80.
Celgene (CELG) rose 3.4% to close at $64.16, approaching its 50-day moving average of $66.31. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $70.57. Warner Chilcott (WCRX) fell 2.4% to close at $17.93, moving down to 1.9% above its 200-day moving average of $17.59.
Medivation (MDVN) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $91.75 to top the previous high of $90.40.
Telik (TELK) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $2 to fall below the previous low of $2.01.
