Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past week. As trading began today, XLB was down 2.6% over the last seven trading days. The S&P 500, in comparison, was down 1.7%.

American Vanguard (AVD) rose 3.7% to close at $26.03, cross its 50-day moving average of $25.28 and 200-day moving average of $20.45. Gevo (GEVO) declined 22.5% to close at $6.80, moving below its 50-day moving average of $6.58 and 200-day moving average of $7.72.

HB Fuller (SYT) fell 1% to close at $30.74, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $30.72. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $64.36.

AEP Industries (AEPI) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 5.8%. The stock closed at $42.18 with 39,779 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $40 to $42.48. Share price is up $7.37 (21.2%) from $34.81 on May 29, 2012. Similarly, Ampco-Pittsburgh (AP) gained today, increasing 85 cents (+5.2%) to close at $17.21.

Renewable Energy Group (REGI) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 5.1% (-34 cents) to close at $6.33, as 53,545 shares moved. The stock traded in a range of $6.11 to $6.77.
