James River Coal Company (JRCC) was a major loser in the sector, falling 14.7% (-43 cents) to close at $2.49 with 3.5 million shares moving. The stock traded between $2.27 and $2.72.
Mid-Con Energy Partners (MCEP) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 7.4% (+$1.40) to close at $20.40 with 17,115 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $19.44 to $20.40. Bill Barrett Corporation (BBG) also gained today, climbing 87 cents (+5.1%) to close at $17.85.
Venoco (VQ) declined 2.3% to close at $10.06, moving below its 50-day moving average of $10.21 and 200-day moving average of $10.10.
Martin Midstream Partners L.P (MMLP) rose 3.4% to close at $31.62, getting closer to its 200-day moving average or $33.83.
ATP Oil & Gas Corporation (ATPG) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $2.78 to fall below the previous low of $3.38.
