Basic Materials Sector Wrap

During trading today, both the Basic Materials sector (XLB) and the S&P500 showed little movement.

Omega Flex (OFLX) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 11.6% (-$1.52) to close at $11.63. 10,220 shares of the stock moved. The stock traded between $11.63 and $13.15. The stock has fallen over the last three months, dropping $1.02 (-8.1%) from $12.65 on March 28, 2012.

Increasing 11.3% (+76 cents) to close at $7.49, Fushi Copperweld (FSIN) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, 1.1 million shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $6.70 to $7.62. Shares have been on an upward trajectory over the past month, rising 80 cents (12%) from a price of $6.69 on May 24, 2012.

American Vanguard (AVD) rose 3.1% to close at $25.29, cross its 50-day moving average of $25.27 and 200-day moving average of $20.29. POSCO (PKX) declined 2.8% to close at $77.46, moving below its 50-day moving average of $79.44 and 200-day moving average of $83.98.

Terra Nitrogen Company L.P (TNH) rose 3.2% to close at $204.44, approaching its 50-day moving average of $206.35. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $210.44. Ball (BLL) fell 3% to close at $40.41, moving down to 1.8% above its 200-day moving average of $39.69.

AEP Industries (AEPI) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $39.97 to top the previous high of $38.79.

Greif (GEF) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $39.23 to fall below the previous low of $40.77.
