Cheniere Energy (LNG) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 9.2% (+$1.09) to close at $12.95 with 7.2 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $11.98 to $13.01. The share price has dropped $4.45 (-25.6%) from $17.40 on May 11, 2012. Cadiz (CDZI) was another big mover, climbing 39 cents (+5.6%) to a closing price of $7.37.

Genon Energy (GEN) was a major loser in the sector, falling 4.8% (-7 cents) to close at $1.40 with 7.9 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $1.40 to $1.56.

Western Gas Partners (WES) rose 1.5% to close at $44.47, cross its 50-day moving average of $44.42 and 200-day moving average of $42.89. El Paso Pipeline Partners L.P (EPB) declined 0.8% to close at $32.89, moving below its 50-day moving average of $33.01 and 200-day moving average of $34.26.

Crosstex Energy L.P (XTEX) rose 2.5% to close at $16.09, getting closer to its 200-day moving average or $16.55. Ameren (MDU) fell 0.6% to close at $32.92, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $32.35. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $21.82.
