The Capital Goods sector (XLI) showed little movement while the S&P 500 gained 0.8% during trading today.
The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past week. Entering today's trading, XLI was up 3.3% over the last seven trading days while the S&P 500 climbed 3.9%.
Income Opportunity Realty Investors (IOT) was a major loser in the sector, falling 9.3% (-20 cents) to close at $1.95 with 5,513 shares moving. The stock traded between $1.84 and $2.15.
Fuel Tech (FTEK) fell 7.3% to close at $4.21, crossing its 50-day moving average of $4.25. Meanwhile, Kadant (KAI) climbed 3.2% to close at $23.55, moving past its 200-day moving average of $22.84.
Chart Industries (GTLS) rose 2.8% to close at $63.91, approaching its 50-day moving average of $67.60. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $64.70.
Patrick Industries (PATK) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 5.2%. The stock closed at $13.27 with 116,703 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $12.08 to $13.40.
Ducommun Incorporated (DCO) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $8.12 to fall below the previous low of $8.43.
