The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLI was down 4.3% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 climbed -3.3%.

Titan Machinery (TITN) fell 21.8% to close at $26.06, crossing its 50-day moving average of $32.35. Meanwhile, Tennant Company (TNC) climbed 1.5% to close at $42.06, moving past its 200-day moving average of $41.74.

The Shaw Group (SHAW) rose 3.2% to close at $26.70, approaching its 50-day moving average of $27.72. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $27.79. National Presto Industries (NC) fell 1.5% to close at $71.41, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $69.50. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $100.49.

CPI Aerostructures (CVU) was a major loser in the sector, falling 10.5% (-$1.48) to close at $12.65 with 171,266 shares moving. The stock traded between $12.63 and $14.10. Shares are down over the last two months as the price has dropped $2.97 (-19%) from a price of $15.62 on April 10, 2012.

Hardinge (HDNG) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 5.9% (+51 cents) to close at $9.20 with 43,766 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $8.81 to $9.31. The share price has been dropping in the last month, down $1.69 (-15.5%) from $10.89 on May 8, 2012.
