Patriot Coal Corporation (PCX) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 14% (-31 cents) to close at $1.90. Seven million shares of the stock moved. The stock traded in a range of $1.86 to $2.28.

Isramco (ISRL) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 11%. The stock closed at $85.85 with 1,538 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $74.00 to $90. Share price is up, having risen 86 cents (1%) from $86.71 on May 4, 2012. Similarly, Atlas Resource Partners L.P (ARP) gained today, increasing $1.41 (+6%) to close at $24.99.

EnCana Corporation (ECA) rose 6.7% to close at $20.22, cross its 50-day moving average of $19.97 and 200-day moving average of $19.70. Natural Gas Services Group (NGS) declined 3.1% to close at $13.31, moving below its 50-day moving average of $13.28 and 200-day moving average of $13.57.

Sandridge Mississippian Trust I (SDT) rose 5.3% to close at $27.29, approaching its 50-day moving average of $28.75. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $29.97. SemGroup (SEMG) fell 0.8% to close at $29.06, moving down to 2.6% above its 200-day moving average of $28.31.

ZaZa Energy (ZAZA) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $2.77 to fall below the previous low of $2.82.
