During trading today, both the Health Care sector (XLV) and the S&P500 showed little movement.

As a proxy for the sector, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. As trading began today, XLV was down 4.9% over the last thirty trading days, and the S&P 500 climbed -8%.

BioSante Pharmaceuticals (BPAX) rose 609.1% to close at $2.73, cross its 50-day moving average of 50 cents and 200-day moving average of 94 cents.

Bio-Reference Laboratories (BRLI) rose 4.8% to close at $19.26, approaching its 50-day moving average of $21.14. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $19.92.

Dendreon Corporation (DNDN) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 12.6% (-85 cents) to close at $5.91. 14.4 million shares of the stock moved. The stock traded in a range of $5.69 to $6.55.

XenoPort (XNPT) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 11.7%. The stock closed at $6.01 with 939,810 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $5.40 to $6.01.
