Consumer/Non-Cyclical Sector Wrap

During trading today, both the Consumer/Non-Cyclical sector (XLP) and the S&P500 showed little movement.

Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. At the start of trading today, XLP was down 3.3% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 was down 8.7%.

Increasing 9.2% (+26 cents) to close at $3.15, Reed's (REED) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, 255,399 shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $2.85 to $3.40.

Owens Corning (OC) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 8.3% (-$2.56) to close at $28.30. 3.7 million shares of the stock moved. The stock traded between $28.23 and $29.96. The share price has dropped $7.16 (-20.2%) from $35.46 on May 2, 2012.

Seaboard Corporation (SEB) declined 2.3% to close at $1940, moving below its 50-day moving average of $1947.48 and 200-day moving average of $1963.86. Clorox (CLX) rose 0.8% to close at $69.36, crossing its 50-day moving average of $68.93.

Jones Soda Co. ( USA (JSDA) rose 16.6% to close at 35 cents, approaching its 50-day moving average of 38 cents. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of 49 cents. Blyth (BTH) fell 6% to close at $70.21, moving down to 1.5% above its 200-day moving average of $69.12.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $22.30 to fall below the previous low of $23.35.
