Transportation Sector Wrap

During trading today, both the Transportation sector (IYT) and the S&P500 showed little movement.

The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, IYT was down 3.1% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 climbed -6.6%.

JetBlue Airways Corporation (JBLU) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 9.9% (+47 cents) to close at $5.23 with 15.2 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $4.86 to $5.24. The stock has seen some positive movement recently as shares are up 75 cents (16.7%) from a price of $4.48 on May 23, 2012.

Eagle Bulk Shipping (EGLE) was a major loser in the sector, falling 9.6% (-32 cents) to close at $3.01 with 412,543 shares moving. The stock traded between $2.95 and $3.37.

Celadon Group (CGI) rose 5.7% to close at $16.11, cross its 50-day moving average of $15.34 and 200-day moving average of $14.07.

Lan Airlines (LFL) rose 4.5% to close at $25.08, approaching its 50-day moving average of $26.53. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $26.11. Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (AAWW) fell 0.5% to close at $45.42, moving down to 1.9% above its 200-day moving average of $44.56.

US Airways Group (LCC) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $13.36 to top the previous high of $12.85.
