Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. At the start of trading today, XLB was down 6.4% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 was down 4.8%.
Interline Brands (IBI) rose 39.8% to close at $25.08, crossing its 50-day moving average of $19.58. Meanwhile, International Tower Hill Mines Ltd(USA (THM) dropped 8.5% to close at $3.25, moving below its 200-day moving average or $4.41.
Teck Resources (TCK) rose 4.8% to close at $31.74, approaching its 50-day moving average of $33.70. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $36.41. Zagg (AEM) fell 2.8% to close at $11.66, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $11.37. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $38.48.
Exeter Resource (XRA) was one of the sector's big losers, as its price dropped 8.2% (-17 cents) to close at $1.90. 287,375 shares of the stock moved. The stock traded in a range of $1.86 to $2.14.
Increasing 5.3% (+$2.47) to close at $48.95, Pope Resources L.P (POPE) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, 10,937 shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $46.84 to $49.18.
Sherwin-Williams (SHW) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $129.54 to top the previous high of $126.43.
