During trading today, the Consumer/Non-Cyclical sector (XLP) showed little change while the S&P 500 fell 0.3%.
Although it went in the opposite direction of the market today, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. At the start of trading today, XLP was down 1.3% over the last thirty trading days while the S&P 500 was down 5.8%.
Coca-Cola HBC (CCH) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 8% (-$1.25) to close at $14.36, as 129,535 shares moved. The stock traded between $14.30 and $14.94. Over the last month, the share price has dropped $5.39 (-27.3%) from $19.75 on April 26, 2012.
Post Holdings (POST) was a significant gainer in the sector, rising 6.3%. The stock closed at $29.75 with 510,142 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $27.33 to $30.20.
Lancaster Colony (LANC) rose 1.4% to close at $65.73, crossing its 50-day moving average of $64.85. Meanwhile, Seaboard Corporation (SEB) dropped 0.6% to close at $1964.06, moving below its 200-day moving average or $1964.97.
Synutra International (SYUT) rose 5.7% to close at $5.42, approaching its 50-day moving average of $5.53. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $5.62.
The Hain Celestial Group (HAIN) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $56.12 to top the previous high of $55.98.
