The ETF, as a proxy for the sector, tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. As trading began today, XLK was down 6.6% over the last thirty trading days, and the S&P 500 climbed -5.6%.
FriendFinder Networks (FFN) rose 48.7% to close at $1.71, cross its 50-day moving average of $1.21 and 200-day moving average of $1.38.
SunPower Corporation (SPWR) rose 10% to close at $5.59, approaching its 50-day moving average of $5.79. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $7.02. ASM International N.V (IACI) fell 4.8% to close at $36.26, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $36.15. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $45.24.
MGT Capital Investments (MGT) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 14.3% (+74 cents) to close at $5.93 with 113,323 shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $5.19 to $6.46.
GameStop (GME) was a major loser in the sector, falling 11.1% (-$2.32) to close at $18.52 with 11.9 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $18.45 to $20.20. The stock has been falling in the last two months, down $5.49 (-22.9%) from a price of $24.01 on March 20, 2012.
