Services Sector Wrap

The Services sector (IYC) showed little movement while the S&P 500 gained 0.2% during trading today.

Amazon.com (AMZN) was a major gainer in the sector, rising 15.7% (+$30.86) to close at $226.85 with 21.9 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $220.22 to $228.69. The stock has been on the rise in the last two months, up $47.16 (26.2%) from a price of $179.69 on February 29, 2012.

Republic Services (RSG) was a major loser in the sector, falling 13.3% (-$4.13) to close at $27.01 with 15.5 million shares moving. The stock traded in a range of $26.96 to $28.78. Shares are down $4 (-12.9%) from a price of $31.01 on April 20, 2012.

Focus Media (FMCN) rose 6.8% to close at $25.33, cross its 50-day moving average of $25.04 and 200-day moving average of $23.84. First Potomac Realty (FPO) declined 5.6% to close at $12.42, moving below its 50-day moving average of $12.68 and 200-day moving average of $13.22.

Alexander's (ALX) rose 0.6% to close at $381.60, approaching its 50-day moving average of $383.31. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $385.50. VistaPrint (BIN) fell 8.8% to close at $39, moving closer to its 50-day moving average of $38.84. Also, the stock moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $21.32.

Tripadvisor (TRIP) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $37.85 to top the previous high of $37.78.

Accretive Health (AH) hit a new 52-week low today, hitting $9.29 to fall below the previous low of $10.50.
