Transportation Sector Wrap

The Transportation sector (IYT) showed little change during trading today while the S&P 500 rose 0.4%.

NewLead Holdings (NEWL) was a major loser in the sector, falling 8.6% (-29 cents) to close at $3.07 with 45,772 shares moving. The stock traded between $3.04 and $3.34.

Increasing 6.4% (+38 cents) to close at $6.31, Frontline (FRO) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, 2.2 million shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $5.83 to $6.48. Share price is up 83 cents (11.6%) from $7.14 on March 23, 2012.

Kansas City Southern (KSU) rose 6% to close at $75.09, cross its 50-day moving average of $71.43 and 200-day moving average of $66.97. Frozen Food Express Industries (FFEX) declined 2.3% to close at $1.25, moving below its 50-day moving average of $1.24 and 200-day moving average of $1.46.

China Eastern Airlines (CEA) rose 5.1% to close at $15.42, approaching its 50-day moving average of $16.70. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $18.26. Costamare (CMRE) fell 0.5% to close at $14.07, moving down to 0.7% above its 200-day moving average of $13.97.

Providence & Worcester Railroad Company (PWX) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $16.49 to top the previous high of $16.18.
