The Capital Goods sector (XLI) showed little movement while the S&P 500 gained 1.5% during trading today.

The ETF is trading at 0.2% of its 50-day moving average and 105.7% above its 200-day moving average. As a proxy for the sector, the ETF tracked closer to the overall market today than over the past month. Entering today's trading, XLI was down 2.5% over the last thirty trading days. The S&P 500, in comparison, went up -0.9%.

China GengSheng Minerals (CHGS) was a major loser in the sector. Its price dropped 10.6% (-10 cents) to close at 84 cents, as 153,409 shares moved. The stock traded in a range of 78 cents to 91 cents. The stock has lost momentum over the last three months, losing 18 cents (-17.6%) from $1.02 on January 19, 2012.

Increasing 5.9% (+$1.32) to close at $23.51, Terex Corporation (TEX) was a major gainer in the sector. Today, 4.4 million shares traded hands. The stock traded in a range of $22.74 to $23.78. Share price is up $2.31 (8.9%) from $25.82 on March 16, 2012.

Elbit Systems (ESLT) fell 0.3% to close at $37.46, crossing its 50-day moving average of $37.41. Meanwhile, Deere & Company (DE) climbed 1.7% to close at $80.90, moving past its 200-day moving average of $79.66.

HEICO Corporation (HEI) rose 4.2% to close at $51.93, approaching its 50-day moving average of $52.63. It has also moved closer to its 200-day moving average of $54.74.

The Middleby Corporation (MIDD) hit a new 52-week high today, reaching $103.96 to top the previous high of $103.75.
