BOSTON -- The Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund was up 0.3% in early trading Monday after the Commerce Department said consumer spending rose 0.7% in December, while income climbed 0.4%. The financial-sector fund opened higher following its nearly 2% decline Friday as stocks were hit by unease over violent protests in Egypt. Shares of ProLogis and AMB Property Corp. were higher after the real estate investment trusts announced a merger of equals.
