NEW YORK -- Allegheny Technologies Inc. said on Wednesday that its fourth quarter profit slipped to $15.1 million, or 15 cents a share, from $37.8 million, or 36 cents a share a year ago. Company sales rose to $1.04 billion from $815.7 million. Analysts surveyed by FactSet Research had expected the company to earn 30 cents a share on sales of $1.05 billion. "Results for the fourth quarter 2009 were adversely affected by start-up and idle facility costs of $13.5 million," the company said in a press release.
