More than 10 billion apps have been downloaded from Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store, an achievement that comes weeks after the tech giant unveiled its iPhone on Verizon (NYSE:VZ).
The Cupertino, Calif-based mobile device maker said more than 160 million iPhone, iPod and iPad users worldwide contributed to the milestone, with more than seven billion downloaded this year alone.
Apple recently introduced its iPhone to Verizon after three years exclusivity on AT&T (NYSE:T).
Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, said reaching the mark in just two-and-a-half years surpassed the company's wildest dreams. He went on to note that the App Store has revolutionized how software is created, distributed, discovered and sold.
While others try to replicate the store, such as Google's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android app store, Schiller said Apple continues to offer the “most innovative experience on the planet.”

The store offers more than 350,000 apps in 90 countries.
