Comedy legend Leslie Nielsen's last ever movie may never be released -- because of financial constraints, TMZ reported Tuesday.
Nielsen, who was cast as the voice of Ready Espanosa in the animated comedy "The Waterman Movie," finished his voice work over a year ago. But, according to the website, the movie's producers were unable to pay for the final animation.
Its director, Bryan Waterman, told the celebrity site a "great deal" of production was still needed before the movie could be released, adding he was still searching for investors.
Nielsen, star of "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" series, died Sunday of pneumonia in a hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was 84 years old.
Waterman paid tribute to the veteran actor, writing Sunday on his website: "There is no word greater than 'impossible' to describe the anomaly I was fortunate enough to be a part of. If only for a little while, I was friends with a super hero. From a fan, to a legend, you will be deeply missed."
